Vyana Mudra |
Vyana mudra is yogic hand gesture. In Ayurveda, the thumb represents fire element of the body, while the middle finger represents space and the index finger represents the air element.
Vyana is name of one of the vayus or pranic winds in Ayurvedic Anatomy which moves from center of the body to every area of the body.
How to do Vyana Mudra
It is done by joining the tips of index finger and middle finger with tip of thumb. Rest two fingers are kept fairly straight.
Benefits of Vyana Mudra
Vyana Mudra stimulates the Vyana Vayu.
- Doing Vyana Mudra has therapeutic benefits for blood circulation and blood pressure. It is recommended to do Vyana Mudra to reduce sudden increase in blood pressure.
- It removes laziness.
- It regulates high or low blood pressure.
- It increases enthusiasm, initiative and speed of thought.
- It reduces drowsiness.
- It improves excessive sweating, thirst and urination.
- Vyana Mudra is connected with Svadisthana Chakra or Sacral Chakra which is associated with pleasure and creativity. Chakras are energy centers within human body that help to maintain all its processes, from organ function to the immune system and emotions.
Duration of Practice of Vyana Mudra
We can practice at any time during the day. It is recommended to do it atleast around 15 mintues. For diseases like blood pressure it should be practiced around 50 minutes at a stretch or in breaks. Practice Pran Mudra after Vyana Mudra.
Precuation
People with Vaata Dosha or Vaata Constitution should do it in moderation.
