Surya Bhedana Pranayama (Right Nostril Breathing) – How to do, its Benefits and Precautions

In Sanskrit Surya means Sun, bhedana means relieving. It is also called as Right Nostril Breathing. In Sanskrit Prana means life force and ayama means extension. Pranayama is conscious awareness of breath (life force) that energizes and relaxes the body. Pranayama or controlled breathing enables both the rhythm of performing yoga poses and relaxing mind for meditation. By practicing Surya Bhedana Pranayam, we activate pingala nadi energy which control physical work and animation of the body.   How to do Surya Bhedana Pranayama ·          Inhale through right nostril keeping the left one closed with your middle and little finger. ·          Close your right nostril with thumb and exhale through left nostril. This completes one round of Surya Bhedana Pranayama. We can do this pranayama by sitting straight in cross legged position.
