Stomach is main part of our digestive system. If our food is not digested properly it can lead to disorders like flatulence, acidity and constipation. Here are some Home Remedy for Stomach Disorders.
Home Remedy for Acidity
· 3-4 times a day drink coconut water.
· Have a plateful of watermelon and/or cucumber every hour.
· Take a tiny piece of jaggery or gur every hour. Just keep it in the mouth and suck it slowly till acidity subsides.
· 1-2 teaspoon of harad (Terminalia Chebula) juice is effective in controlling acidity. For better results mix it with equal amount of amla juice. Grate amla and squeeze the pulp through a clean muslin cloth to take out amla juice.
· Chew a piece of harard (Terminalia Chebula) for acidity. It is an age-old remedy.
Home Remedy for Belching
· Grind 2 teasppons of each ajwain (carom seeds) and adrak(ginger) into a fine powder. Add little black salt (kala namak) to it. Consume 1 teaspoon of this mixture with 1 cup of water frequently for belching.
Home Remedy for Constipation
· Chew a few sticks of licorice or mulethi sticks. It is natural laxative.
· Take a hot glass of water with 1 teaspoon honey and juice of lemon immediately in the morning after getting up.
· Drink 4 glasses of water after leaving bed in morning.
· In a cup of water soak 6-8 dates at night. In the morning churn in mixer and drink it.
· Consume approximately 250-300 grams of fresh grapes daily. When grapes are not in season, soak 12-15 raisins for 24-48 hours and eat them early in morning. Consume the water also.
For Constipation in Small Children
· Soak 6-8 raisins in hot water depending on age. Let it cool. Now crush well and strain. When it is given to little infant routinely it helps to regulate bowel movement. Care should be taken not to give too much otherwise the child might get loose motions.
· Whole wheat flour should be used. Processed foods like refined flour (maida, cheese, confectionery) should be avoided.
· Consumption of 1-2 bananas or 2-3 cucumber or 6-8 apricot daily is also very useful.
· Fibrous food or Bulk forming vegetables like carrots, radish, spinach, cabbage should be consumed. Instead of juice always opt for eating the fruit.
Home Remedy for Diarrhoea
· Drinking strong cup of unsweetened black tea is effective for stopping diarrhoea.
· Combine 1 teaspoon each of powdered ginger, powdered jeera (cumin) and powdered dalchini (cinnamon) with honey and make it into a thick paste. Take one teaspoon thrice daily.
· Boil 1 teaspoon cumin in a glass of water. Add 1 teaspoon fresh juice of coriander leaves and a pinch of salt. Drink it twice daily after meals for 2-3 days.
· Mash 1 ripe banana along with a pinch of salt and 1 teaspoon of tamarind without seeds. Have it twice a day.
· Peel an apple and shred it. Keep the shredded pieces in a plate for approximately 20 minutes until they become brown in color. Now eat them.
· Take 3 cloves of chopped garlic and boil them in milk. Take them every night.
· Take 2-3 teaspoon sabut dhania (whole coriander seeds) and soak them overnight in water. Take it next day in morning with 1 cup of buttermilk. It is useful to treat diarrhoea.
· Boil ½ teaspoon of powdered green cardamom (choti elaichi) seeds in light tea water and drink.
· Apply juice of ginger(adrak) around the navel.
· Mix juice of 15-20 tender curry leaves (curry patta) with 1 teaspoon of honey and drink.
Home Remedy for Flatulence
· Soak three tablespoon carom seeds (Ajwain) in adequate quantity of lime juice. Dry them in shade. When they are fully dried, powder them with little black salt. Take one teaspoon of this mixture twice a day for few days with little warm water. This remedy will be more effective when fat and spices are avoided in the diet.
Home Remedy for Gastric Problem
· Mix ¼ teaspoon sonth (dried ginger) with a pinch of heeng (Asafoetida) and a pinch of kala namak (black salt) in little warm water. Drink it.
· Apply a paste of heeng (asafoetida) with water on stomach.
· Chew a piece of fresh ginger after meals regularly to prevent gas forming.
· Powder 1 teaspoon each of sonth (Dried Ginger), Kali Mirch (Black Pepper) and Green Cardamom Seeds (Chotti Elaichi Seeds). Have ½ teaspoon of this mixture with water. It relieves gas.
· Make a coarse powder (choorna) of equal amounts of Cumin Seeds (Jeera), Carom Seeds (Ajwain), Sabut (Whole) Kali Mirch (Black Pepper) and Methi Dana (Fenugreek Seeds). Take this mix with ½ teaspoon of water.
· Add a teaspoon of caraway seeds to 1.5-2 liters of water. Boil it to simmer on low flame for 15 minutes. Strain. Drink 1 cup of this tea hot or warm 3 times a day after meals.
· Wash black harad (Terminalia Chebula or Haritaki or Chebulic Myrobalan) well with water. Wipe it with a clean dry cloth. Store it in airtight bottle. Suck one piece after meals. Keep in the mouth till it dissolves completely. It is very useful remedy in controlling gas and relieves constipation.
Home Remedy for Giddiness
· Soak Cumin Seeds in lime juice overnight. Keep this mixture under Sun. Let it completely dry. Put it in a bottle. Chew ½ teaspoon of this mix and drink a glass of warm water.
Home Remedy for Gastroenteritis
· Make a decoction of 15-20 tulsi leaves. Have it along with pinch of black salt. This remedy helps to cure Gastroenteritis.
Home Remedy for Hiccups
· Drink ½ glass of water slowly.
· Swallow ½ teaspoon of sarson (mustard) mixed with ½ teaspoon of pure ghee (clarified butter).
· Put one teaspoon of sugar in mouth and suck slowly.
· Grind 4 green cardamom (chhoti elaichi) well. Boil in 2.5 cups of water. When water remains about 1 cup, remove from flame. Sieve it through a muslin cloth. Let it cool and drink a glassful when it is warm.
· Suck 2-3 small pieces of fresh adrak (ginger). This helps in controlling hiccups which occur again and again.
Home Remedy for Indigestion
· Boil 5-6 sticks of powdered dalchini (Cinnamon) in a glass of water. Add a pinch of pepper powder with honey. Have a tablespoon of this dedoction ½ hour after meals. It helps in indigestion and flatulence (Gas).
· Soak 1 teaspoon of celery seeds in a glass of buttermilk for 5-6 hours. Grind them in same buttermilk and drink 1-2 times a day.
· Add ¼ teaspoon of pepper powder, ¼ teaspoon cumin powder (jeera powder) to a glass of buttermilk. Have it 1-2 times a day.
· Chew food well. Avoid overeating. Eat little less than your hunger to avoid indigestion.
· Add 1 teaspoon of fresh ginger to 1 cup of water. Cover and simmer on low flame for 5 minutes. Strain and drink 1-2 times daily.
Home Remedy for Intestinal Worms
· Eat papaya frequently.
· Take 5-10 seeds of karela (Bitter Gourd) and crush them. Fry them in little ghee (Clarified butter). Have it twice daily.
· Slice and dry kernel of mango. Mix 1 tablespoon of methi dana (Fenugreek Seeds) in little ghee (clarified butter) and grind. Store this powder in an airtight bottle. Add some powder to drinking water. Drink it 2-3 times daily for 2-3 days.
· Fry fenugreek seeds (methi dana) in little ghee (clarified butter) and grind. Store the powder in airtight bottle. Add this powder to drinking water and drink 2-3 times daily for 2-3 days.
· Take 1 tablespoon juice extracted from karela (bitter gourd) leaves. Mix into a glassful of buttermilk every morning and drink it.
· Take 1 teaspoon raw haldi (turmeric) juice mixed with a pinch of salt. Drink it first thing in the morning.
· Fry 1 teaspoon of neem (margosa) flowers in 1 teaspoon ghee (clarified butter). Mix with a cup of boiled rice and eat twice a day.
Home Remedy for Dyspepsia
· Take a teaspoon of khajoor (dates) paste mixed with little honey. Have it three times a day. It is every effective for regulating bowels.
· Mix juice of 1 large pomegranate and 1 glass of sugarcane juice. Consume it 4 times a day.
· Mash ripe banana with little salt. It can be given to children 2-3 times a day. Take ripe and sweet apples crush them to pulp (can be steamed). It can be given to children 1-4 tablespoon several times a day.
· Take 5-10 gms of powdered Indian gooseberry seeds. Mix it with buttermilk. Take it for 1-2 days.
· Crush 8-10 curry leaves. Mix with a cup of thin buttermilk. Consume it 2-3 times a day.
· Fasting with only buttermilk, curd and rice or bananas prove very effective.
· Avoid having raw vegetables and fruits such as orange, mousami (Sweet Lime), Papaya, Pineapple and Spices.
· A strong cup of unsweetened black tea is very useful.
· Drink plenty of water to which a teaspoon of sugar and pinch of salt has been added to protect against dehydration.
Home Remedy for Stomach-ache
· Swallow with warm water 1 teaspoon of ajwain or carom seeds with a pinch of salt.
· Swallow with warm water 1 teaspoon of pure ghee (clarified butter) mixed with a pinch of heeng (Asafoetida).
· Mix carom seeds (Ajwain) with lemon juice and dry in the sun. Put it in a bottle and consume a teaspoon whenever you feel that something is wrong with your stomach. This remedy is very good for gas, indigestion etc.
· Mix 1 teaspoon of pudina or mint juice, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, juice of ¼ piece of ginger and pinch of kala namak (black salt) and drink it.
· Mix little heeng (asafoetida) with water to make a paste. Apply on and around the navel.
Home Remedy for Stomach Pain Around Navel
· Grind 2 teaspoon of each carom seeds (ajwain) and sonth (dried ginger) into fine powder. Add little black salt (kala namak). Take 1 teaspoon of this mix with 1 cup warm water frequently.
Home Remedy for Stomach Burn
· Take 1 teaspoon of methi dana (fenugreek seeds) powder along with milk or buttermilk twice daily for a few days.
Home Remedy for Stomach Heaviness
· Mix ¼ teaspoon each of powdered jeera (Cumin Seeds) and Kali Mirch (Black Pepper) in a glass of buttermilk. Drink two or three times a day for 2-3 days.
Home Remedy Stool with Blood
· Take 1 tablespoon juice of flower of pomegranate with mishri (Rock Sugar) twice daily.
Home Remedy for Vomiting and Nausea
· Sucking a piece of ice controls vomiting.
· Licking powder of friend Laung (clove) mixed with honey controls vomiting.
· Crush 2-3 teaspoon of curry leaves juice with 1 teaspoon of lime juice. Add a little sugar if required. Drinking this will check morning sickness, nausea and vomiting.
· Mix ½ teaspoon of fresh ginger juice with 1 teaspoon each of fresh lime, pudina juice and 1 tablespoon of honey. Drink it.
· Slice a ripe banana. Sprinkle some powdered sugar and freshly ground green cardamom (chhoti elaichi) on top. Eat it 1-2 times a day.
· Powdered cinnamon (dalchini) and sliced ginger (adrak) work by interrupting nausea signals sent from stomach to brain. Sprinkle powdered cinnamon on herbal tea and drink. To make ginger tea simply simmer a few slices of ginger (adrak) in hot tea water.
· Eat ½ teaspoon of ground jeera (cumin seeds).
· Adrak (Ginger) tea or sucking sliced ginger also helps.
Home Remedy Vomiting due to Indigestion
· Frequent consumption of lime juice is a good remedy.
Home Remedy for Nervousness
· Apply fresh lime juice on head. Massage it well. Shower it off.
· Steep 1 tablespoon pudina (mint) leaves in 1 cup of water for 30 minutes. Drink the infusion, do not boil it.
Home Remedy Colic in Babies
· Boil a teaspoon of saunf (Fennel seeds) in a cup of water. Boil for 2-3 minutes and let it cool for 15-20 minutes. Add 1-2 teaspoon to all feed of milk of baby. It helps to cure colic.
· Powder heeng (asafoetida) and make it lukewarm. Applying it around navel of child gives relief in colic.
Home Remedy for Appetite Loss
· Cut 1-inch piece of adrak (ginger) into small pieces. Add ½ cup of water and boil. Simmer for 2-3 minutes. Add milk, sugar to taste and have it frequently.
· Take ½ teaspoon powdered kali mirch (black pepper) and 1 tablespoon sugar mixed together.
· Take 2 teaspoon of amla (indian gooseberry) juice. Mix it with 2 teaspoon of honey and 2 teaspoon of lime juice. Add 1 cup water. Drink on an empty stomach every morning. To take out fresh amla juice, remove seeds from fresh amla and grind the pulp into a fine paste. Tie it in a muslin cloth and squeeze to take out the juice. If fresh amla is not available, dried amla can be used. Soak 1 tablespoon of dried amla at night in cup of water. Strain it next morning. Add 1/8 teaspoon black pepper powder (kali mirch) and 2 teaspoon lime juice. Add water to dilute it. Drink every morning regularly on empty stomach.
